  2. I met Ellen about 53 years ago while on a working holiday in Sydney with a group of girlfriends from Matamata. We were all living at the Victoria Park Ladies Lodge in Sydney. After we returned to New Zealand, Ellen came over and flatted with us at a grand old villa in Ponsonby then another house in Calgary St, Balmoral. Fun days living and working in Auckland.
We kept in touch over the years I was living overseas and I could always count on a Christmas card and letter from Ellen.
When we both ended up living in Tauranga, our friendship continued with shopping trips, coffee and lunches.
Time spent with Ellen was always full of laughter.
I'll miss you, my friend. Condolences to Ian and family.

  3. Dear Ian An Family
I was so saddened to hear of Ellen’s death. I can remember the great times and laughs we had at Victoria Ladies Lodge in Sydney Australia and again in N.Z when we all came back in the early seventies. Ellen was one of the kindest people I have known, always smiling and happy. I will always remember you Ellen. Rest in peace. Jill Elliott (née Reid )

  4. My 52 years of friendship with Ellen began in Sydney. Girlfriends and I from New Zealand were on a working holiday, living at the Victoria Park Ladies Lodge as was Ellen and she became part of our group. When we returned to NZ, we were flatmates in a huge old villa in Ponsonby then a lovely house in Calgary St, Balmoral. Great memories of our days flatting with Ellen, Kathy and Jill..
Over the years when I was living in Canada, I could always count on a Christmas card and news from Ellen. We retired to Tauranga and were so pleased when Ellen and Ian did the same. Coffee and lunch dates with Ellen were full of laughter.
    Goodbye dear friend,

  10. She who we love and lose
is no longer where she was before.
She is now wherever we are
    and in our hearts forever.
Ellen, we met many years ago at a Baldock party and found that we had a lot in common. We were both born in the same year both had sons, arthritis and a good sense of humour. Our hubbies got along well and we all had had similar experiences in life. When Ian retired and you moved to Otumoetai Rd in Tauranga because, we had family near by we visited them a fair bit and discovered that my Sister & Brother in law had worked in the Auckland Central Post Office the same time as you and Ian. Ian liked to come to Auckland for his Prayer Meetings and you would come and stay with me, and we would put the world to rights. You had a great sense of humour and would rib my sons and they would bounce back to you and we spent a lot of time laughing.
You are at peace now and out of any pain and discomfort.
Miss you. Love from Marge Richard & Malcolm
    God Bless

  11. Neil & I are very sad that we are unable to travel with Artie & Paul to farewell Ellen. We had a lot of fun and laughs over the years, especially family Christmas dinners at our place. Neil remembers teasing Ellen and she gave him as good as she got. She had a really good sense of humour. Sleep peacefully Ellen. We miss you.
Love to Ian, Jon & Shaun.

  12. I affectionately called Ellen 'Mother Duck' as she was like a mother guarding her chicks. Very protective and nurturing. Ellen and Ian were my neighbors when they were in New Zealand and we miss them. Ellen will be fondly remembered by Kereen and myself. We always felt welcome anytime we went over to talk to her. She would share many memories of her past and would lend a listening ear when needed.
