Rest in Peace David. We arrived in this great land and thought we’d stay 18 months; but Australia we found so easy to love we stayed. Yankee teachers in the 70’s.
So glad we shared the newness of Oz with you at good ole Essendon Technical School. Love and prayers to Jeanette and family. Mary and Wayne DayOctober 15, 2026 7:10 pm
When I think of my "Uncle" David, I mostly hear his laugh. Think of him and my Dad being goofballs. I heard so many stories from my Dad growing up after Uncle David disappeared to Australia. Like the time they snuck onto private property to go quail hunting and got a shotgun leveled at them by a farmer telling them they were trespassing. As a kid, when David and Jeanette came to San Diego to visit, I remember a trip to Costco when he stocked up on Levi jeans, Kool-Aid packets, and Root Beer candies. I think there were sneakers in there, too. I am so glad our Dads got one last visit before my father passed. David meant a great deal to him and my Mom. Much love to my Australian Cousins. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our condolences go out to the entire Lindgren family, David was much more than a teacher, he was a very strong willed human being who really enjoyed his craft, teaching... Essendon Tech was his first teaching opportunity on arrival from the US and I was one of his students and importantly friend during the 70's, fantastic times and so many great memories that I will carry forever. Dave left me that quintessential mark that's invisible yet required in life on me forever "Do the best you can and never give up" and I am so sorry he has now left us all. My love goes out to Jeanette and James along with the entire family and I will be streaming the service live at 2:00am local time here in France to celebrate One heck of a wonderful teacher, Friend and Mentor.... RIP Dave from Vic & Heidi

I do remember when some students at Queenscliff high school advertised his new car for sale in the local classifieds, for cheap. Got phone calls all weekend. He thought it was hilarious.
Great teacher, everytime he introduced something new, he made it sound so intriguing and difficult, that when you understood it, you thought you were a champion
